A topographic map from the 1960s (CLICK)

Photographs taken in 1968 reveal the inscriptions in Federal Hill Rock, which is the favorite lookout spot in the center of the mountaintop. I only have the negatives, so I can't post the actual pictures just yet. Most of the carvings look like they may have been done by a professional stonecutter. Here is what was carved up there:
